Sri Lanka is one of the places I genuinely enjoyed travelling around. You had to earn getting to places, and I loved it. They have an extremely disorganised transport system, it's chaos trying to find your bus or any information about your outboard journey. I've been sent from bus to bus, being told train times that don't exist and even private minibuses were running on give or take an hour schedule. However, tuk-tuk was always a safe bet. After bargaining your price, you could get anywhere with speed of light.

If you are an animal lover and you especially love elephants, this is the place to go to. You can see these magnificent giants beside the road or crossing the rice fields while you are travelling. It is an extraordinary experience to see these animals freely running around. Sri Lankan elephants maintain symbolic importance to this country and luckily, they are protected by law and killing one carries the death penalty.

This country has an incredibly rich culture, food, history and wildlife. Its spirit is genuine and local people are way beyond friendly.
